Dark Age of Camelot Community

Community. That’s what puts the multi-massively into the mmo acronym and that is what also makes being a part of a guild so much fun. If you can play an mmo that you enjoylife is great, but if you can interact with the game’s community and find a suitable guild/community to join in such game then so much the  better.

Being a poor mmo guild reporter, I cannot always afford to pay for more than one game sub, so I jump from game to game. For the time being I am sticking with the venerable but solid DAoC, at least until I can afford to get me a new rig that will handle the new shiny mmorpgs of today like Wildstar and Final Fantasy XIV. Heck, on this machine, I can’t even run Neverwinter in high settings.

But I digress, I have written about Dark Age of Camelot and its alleged successor in the past, but if you want to read an excellent blog about the game then check out http://daoc.eaderbreca.com. Eadebreca does an awesome job of updating gamers on this old but excellent mmo.

Mythic has made some changes to DAoC and New Frontiers and here is some information on those changes that new and old players will all find helpful. These come compliments of Etaw’s excellent DAoC blog.

Presently I belong to a DAoC pvp server on the ywain cluster of servers, but I am looking to find one with more active guilds recruiting players, I only have one character maxed out, but am well on my way to a second, so I will be looking to join a good DAoC guild soon, probably as soon as I am done with the battlegrounds or sooner. If anyone is on ywain 1, my toon is named Odinsfavorite, currently level 19 and I occasionally do take otu my 50 berzerker Ogmorvag out for a run trying to  level up master levels.

Getting back to the issue of community, the community at DAoC could not be better. Last night I was running around with my brand new skald and since I had never tried that class before, I was pretty noobish. Luckily I had the help of a German player who seemed extremely delighted to see a new player and who went out of his way to help me with some of the ins and outs of speccing a Skald character. Very cool. I don’t know if something like this could ever happen in World of Warcraft, though an excellent game in itself, their community has a bad rap for being less than helpful, and these days you rarely see players on the game world except for capital cities and in pvp battle zones.

Tomorrow I will go back to listing some more mmorpg players in search of guilds. Till then, I hope everyone is having a good end to 2013.

Sinister Swarm (multi-gaming)

The Sinister Swarm is a multi-platform gaming community designed for building lasting friendships in a fun, mature, organized environment. According to their history page, they originally started in Team Fortress Classic in 1999 under the name of the SLAYER clan with the likes of Terminator, Viper, Wolfie, Venom, and many others who played a key part in the beginnings of the community that exists today. They became known for their Dust Bowl league play, and had countless hours dedicated to mastering that map.

In 2000, Viper & Venom started playing Everquest and tried joining several different guilds. However, they never found any guild that could live up to their expectations. They looked for organization, structure, group activities, maturity, strong leadership, and some level of camaraderie. Yet they found nothing that even came close. So, they began to list all the things that they would do differently if they were the ones running the guild. Soon they had everything planned out in great detail, and gave birth to the Sinister Swarm Everquest chapter! They looked for a name fitting the group:

And then Swarm… a swarm is not viewed as any single entity or individual. It consists of a vast number of moving parts all working together in perfect synchronization to accomplish their goal. There is no pride or ego in a swarm. Each member works towards the greater good and betterment of the swarm as a whole. Each member of the unit is willing to sacrifice themselves for the swarm without hesitation. As such, their colors and ranks were also generated from this theme. So black and gold were an obvious choice.

Guild Roll Call 2 wow

Here we go with some of the latest guilds looking to recruit according to the forums:

World of Warcraft

<Smitus and Friends> is an 11/14H 10man guild located on Sargeras.

Raid Times:
Wednesday 8-12est
Sunday 8-12est
Monday 8-12est

Who we are?
We are a guild of like minded individuals that have experienced top world raiding. All of us are very competitive people, however can no longer raid 20-40 hours a week anymore. With that said, we have intentions of becoming the best 3 day a week guild in the world. Most of our core comes from current top 20 US guilds.

Our history:
Smitus and Friends formed after t13 progression. While building our roster up from scratch, we showed our skill by achieving many top 5 world speed kills. We had high expectations leading into MoP, and achieved many top 20 US kills while raiding significantly less than our competitors. After losing our MT due to real life issues, we were unable to recover and ended up dying shortly after. After this, many of our players pursued top US guilds.

Recruitment Needs:
We are currently recruiting everything to expand to 25 mans in preparations of Mythic raiding in WoD.

What we provide:

1. Flasks
2. Potions
3. Noodle Carts
4. Repairs
5. Gems
6. Enchants
7. Paid X-fers

Above is our progression from T14 when we were competing for top 20 US 10 man kills.

We do not require alts, however they are highly encouraged. Many of our members will have alts that they keep geared in case we do need them for class stacking.

– Discipline Priest

Ranged DPS:
– Balance Druid

Again, while these are the classes and spec’s we are most interested in, we will be more than happy to review exceptional applications and to take those that are competitive with our current members.

Cataclysm 25-man Progression
Dragon Soul: 8/8 Heroic with 15% buff
Firelands: 7/7 Heroic
BWD/BoT/ToTfW’s: 13/13 Heroic

Wrath of the Lich King 25-man Progression
All Content Clear (Normal and Heroic)
Server First 25-man Heroic Lich King

Tribute to Insanity and Immortality

Guild History:
Ouroboros is a well established, progression oriented guild that formed back in 2007 and had been at the top or near the top of progression on our previous server, and is maintaining a similar position on our new server in the 25 man bracket. Our goal is to advance as a guild focusing on 25 man raids throughout all progression content. Outside of raiding, many of our members also work on Challenge Modes, PvP/Battlegrounds, Old Content raids, and other achievement runs.

If you are looking to apply keep in mind that all members should be open to constructive criticism. We like to keep a small guild footprint and expect all members to act as adults and to behave respectfully when dealing with people both in and out of the guild. With that in mind, we do have a sense of humor that can be rather sarcastic and obnoxious at times, so the ability to laugh at yourself and participate in the jokes is definitely a good thing.

Expectations for Applicants:
– We keep track of attendance and low attendance = low priority for raid spots. We expect that you make the majority of raids and inform us on the website when you CAN NOT make one, or may be late.
– You should be fully prepared with flasks, potions, and food.
– You should be very knowledgeable about your class and spec, and current progression fights planned for the raiding week
– Your gear and experience are expected to be near the current level required for our progression.
– Be able to follow instructions and take constructive criticism

Why Ouroboros?
Ouroboros is more than just a group of people who log in to slay internet dargons (spelling intentional) together. We are a community and a family. We stick together through the good and the bad. We’re here to support each other; not just in game, but outside of it as well. This community transcends a simple game. Bonds are formed that carry through into real life. One of the best examples of this is our annual summer BBQ. People from all across the country (and Canada) travel together to hang out, have a blast, and just enjoy each others company: new members, old members, members who haven’t played in years.

We are also very active in game on non-raid nights, and have regular guild runs of old content. Legendaries, transmog, nerd points, alt runs you name it!! Need help with an Infusion? We’ve got you covered!

The long and short of it is: If you’re looking for a guild to call home, we may just be what you’re looking for.

If you feel you are interested in us after reading this far in (and have actually read this far), please feel free to check out our website for further details and fun: http://www.ouroborosguild.com

<Resonate> of Bleeding Hollow Horde is looking for ranged dps with particular emphasis on Boomkins, Hunters and Mages for 20 mans next xpac.

You should have significant raiding experience, a minimum of a 565ilvl and the legendary cloak.

<Resonate> has a history of successfully completing current content at a hard-core pace while raiding a casual schedule. Our efforts in Cataclysm culminated in a US 26th Heroic Madness kill. We completed T14 US 27th US. Last tier we scored a US 12th Heroic Lei Shen kill.

We raid a three night raid schedule: Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday from 8:00 – 12:00 EST.

Because of our short schedule, we expect all raiders to have knowledge of the fights before we pull. No one wants to be that person who holds the raid back because they didn’t do their due diligence. We pride ourselves in doing what other guilds do, in less time.
